A top gambling tech company has patented a way for bitcoiners to pay for their next digital roll of the dice with cryptocurrency.

International Game Technology plc, which builds slots and other tech for casinos, has yet to reveal any plans to integrate bitcoin, bitcoin cash and ether into its tech. But its new patent awarded Tuesday covers a means for HODLER-gamblers to pay for their bets with any of the three.

As described in U.S. Patent and Trademark Office filings, users of IGT’s method would be able to transfer cryptocurrency into their gaming accounts as a means of payment. There, the crypto would convert to fiat currency after payment of a fee.

IGT’s filings include drawings of a mobile phone application for placing the deposits as well as a slot machine that would theoretically facilitate the actual bet. One drawing included a live bitcoin wallet address that IGT appears to have set up but never used.

But the patent is not exclusive to slots machines; rather, it also covers the means for moving crypto into the gambler’s account. IGT could theoretically roll out a now-patented method for crypto funding across any of its digital gambling platforms. The company has stakes in slots, lotteries and the burgeoning sports-betting scene.

Playtech has signed a new licensing agreement with global gaming leader IGT, that will see Playtech is able to offer games in the US that include any of the features patented within IGT’s extensive US patent portfolio.

IGT is the holder of the largest portfolio of slot game feature patents in the US. The agreement represents a significant step in Playtech’s expansion into North America after being granted a license in New Jersey. Norwegian monopoly operator Norsk Tipping AS has strengthened its online casino offering through a new co-operation with Swedish provider Genera Networks and Greentube, the NOVOMATIC Interactive division.

17 December 2020. After a public procurement process in competition with leaders of the industry, Genera was selected as the only new partner of Norsk Tipping. Genera Networks and its sub-contractor Greentube will provide casino titles as well as other online games to Norsk Tipping starting from early 2021. The contract is valid for up to eight years with an estimated value of EUR 25 Million.

Norsk Tipping has been a Genera customer since the first contract to supply VLT content was awarded more than 10 years ago. Norsk Tipping also operates the neighbor raffle game Nabor since 2015 under a licence from Genera.

Walther, who will focus on managing product planning, go-to-market strategy, product roadmaps, and research and analytics, joined AGS after serving more than seven years at Konami Gaming in various product-related roles, ending his tenure as Senior Director, Marketing & Product Management.

Before that, Walther served nearly four years as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Aruze Gaming America, and seven years at Aristocrat as Head of Systems Product Office.

In her role at AGS, Greene will manage the Company’s recurring revenue business, including data and analytics to optimize game performance. She will also lead initiatives to increase market penetration of AGS’ new line of high-performing premium participation games and focus on efficient management of the Company’s capital expenditures for its recurring revenue business. Greene joins AGS from Aristocrat Technologies, where she served nearly two years in sales leadership roles, with oversight of key territories in the western U.S. and strategic accounts. Other highlights of Greene’s career include the six years she spent at Konami Gaming in various functions, including game sales, sales operations, and accounting/finance.
