Shining in the centre of the product presentation was the marvellous Samurai Beauty™ installation with 2x3 V.I.P. Lounge™ Curve 1.43 cabinets propped against a double-sided 4x3 LED screen video wall featuring game-specific, choreographed content for a high-visibility game presentation. Visitors were stoked not only by the visuals but also by the smooth gameplay of the gripping new, Asian-themed linked progressive that was presented with a photo booth featuring two real-life Samurai Beauties plus some befitting stage props.
Venturing deeper into the NOVOMATIC booth, visitors discovered more linked progressives for the US market: the MONEY PARTY™ Link featuring titles Fruity Fruity™ and Juicy Juicy™ as well as the THUNDER CASH™ Link, already a highlight in a growing number of US casinos. The PAY DAY™ Progressives series was extended with a fourth title, PAY DAY™ Plus which premiered at the show, adding a classic, straightforward version with thrilling multiplier bonus features to the set.
US Commercial, Tribal and VGT operators were treated to a broad suite of products and award-winning technology to boost their operations: games and game mixes, progressive jackpots, sports betting kiosks, system solutions and ETGs were on full display at G2E 2019. Especially for the VGT markets in Illinois and Pennsylvania, new mixes were on display – and the modular myACP casino management system showcased new player recognition modules for VGT operators in Illinois, including a new NOVO Rewards™ player recognition kiosk.
“This year’s G2E was really exceptional, maybe the best ever and I have heard that from all our sales teams as well,” said Jens Einhaus, VP of International Sales Europe & Americas. “We had excellent customer traffic on the NOVOMATIC booth – not only in terms of quantity but also in terms of quality – and a lot of specific interest from US and Latin American decision-makers. Scientific Games brings industry leading performance to 150 lotteries across 50 countries, and operates lottery services in 44 states. It is the only full-service lottery company headquartered in the United States, providing lottery draw, instant, internet, mobile, video lottery and sports wagering solutions worldwide. Scientific Games is a premier lottery instant game provider with more than 70 percent share of all US instant game sales, and is the primary instant game supplier for 9 of the top 10 performing U.S. lotteries.
Scientific Games will offer its full suite of lottery services to the TRWH consortium that includes Camelot Lottery Solutions and Intralot, as previously announced. Specific lottery services provided by Scientific Games and the consortium members will be tailored to the details of the bid issued by Rhode Island.
According to Marc Crisafulli, Executive Vice President of TRWH, the addition of Scientific Games strengthens an already formidable partnership of gaming and technology companies hoping to compete for the state lottery contract. “Today’s announcement that Scientific Games has joined Twin River is further proof that there is significant interest in bidding for Rhode Island’s lottery and gaming business, with virtually the entire global lottery industry now confirming that they will participate if an open competitive bidding process develops in Rhode Island. We believe this is ultimately very good news for the Rhode Island taxpayers. We look forward to continuing our conversation with members of the General Assembly about the efficacy of a public bid process, the extraordinary savings to the State that likely could be realized when competition enters the marketplace and how we can collaboratively protect and enhance the State’s third largest source of revenue.”
Crisafulli noted “The lottery programs managed by Scientific Games in New England states far outperform IGT’s Rhode Island lottery programs. IGT’s Instant Game program in Rhode Island is performing 75% lower sales averages than the national weekly per capita sales average. Among a peer group of U.S. lotteries of similar size, Rhode Island has the lowest growth rate for revenue over the past eight years, and the lowest growth rate for draw games for the last decade.”
He continued, “Scientific Games is well known to us. Their machines in our two Rhode Island facilities outperformed IGT-controlled machines by over 50% last year, delivering on average over $31,000 more per machine to the State of Rhode Island taxpayers. They have a successful track record of understanding player preferences and delivering products that exceed customer expectations. The New England gaming market has become increasingly competitive, and the addition of Scientific Games to our team is an important part of enhancing our ability to compete and deliver positive results for Rhode Island.”
Patrick McHugh, Executive Vice President and Group Chief Executive, Lottery, said, “As the only full-service lottery provider headquartered in the United States, Scientific Games is very excited about bringing our global leadership in lottery and gaming products to Rhode Island in a more meaningful way. We are confident that our products will improve the performance of Rhode Island Lottery programs and create millions of dollars in new revenue for the State. We are pleased to formalize our commitment to bidding with the Twin River/Camelot consortium. There are tremendous synergies created by our companies coming together to deliver a competitive package that seeks to increase Lottery sales and profits for Rhode Island.” He continued, “Scientific Games values the trust our 150 lottery customers have placed in us throughout 50 countries worldwide and look forward to helping make Rhode Island the leading lottery performer it should be.”
The Twin River consortium proposal thus far includes:
- Commitment of 1,100 jobs created in Rhode Island backed up by a $100 million guarantee to the State if the jobs commitment falls short;
- Investment in best of breed lottery and gaming products to maximize sales and profits;
- A 12-year contract with an approximate cost to the State of [Rhode Island of] less than $500 million dollars versus the current IGT contract [that carries with it] over $1 billion dollars in costs to the State [of Rhode Island], and if the State prefers a 20 year contract an upfront payment of $75 million, $50 million more than IGT for the same contract term;
-The development or construction of a new corporate headquarters in Rhode Island of approximately 50,000 square feet.
-The expenditure of $50 million at Twin River to include new amenities and facility upgrades as part of the overall commitment to invest $150 million.

Speaking at the Fantini Research CEO One-On-One interview series at the industry’s G2E trade show, the CEOs continue to see business confidence on the part of casino companies that buy their products and on the part of casino patrons.
The observations by these CEOs is important in that any change in the spending of casino patrons is among the first indicators of change in consumer confidence.
Among the CEOs, Mike Rumbolz of Everi, noted that his payments company sees consumer activity in real time as it provides daily ATM, check cashing and credit check services to casinos and there is no sign of consumer spending slowing down.
Likewise, Harald Neumann of Austrian-based international gaming conglomerate Novomatic noted that, while many European business executives are predicting an economic slowdown, his company is enjoying a strong and growing second half of the year.
So far, prospects of a recession “appear to be more sentiment than reality,” said Neumann, whose company operates in 70 countries.
Those observations and others about the gaming industry and their companies are discussed in quick-to-view videos running at an average of 10 to 12 minutes each, by 21 leading CEOs at https://www.fantiniresearch.com/conventions/g2e/g2e-2019-ceo-one-on-ones.html.
The videos are produced by Fantini Research, publisher of the daily Fantini’s Gaming Report that serves executives and investors in the gaming industry. Fantini also publishes the gaming industry’s Public Policy Review and co-publishes proprietary research in the EILERS-FANTINI Quarterly Slot Survey, EILERS-FANTINI Game Performance Database and the Distributed Gaming Report with Fifth Third Bank.

Lopez was among 19 gaming industry CEOs nominated in the category, representing companies such as Aristocrat, IGT, Interblock, and Scientific Games. A panel of 100 judges, made up of many esteemed executives and influencers from the global gaming industry, cast their votes and chose Lopez as the 2019 'American Executive of the Year.'
According to the Global Gaming Awards organizers, the Executive of the Year seeks to acknowledge and recognize one truly unique executive in the global gaming industry who has successfully steered their respective company on the path to success. It serves to pay tribute to those individuals whose efforts serve to drive the industry forward as a whole.
AGS Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of Investor Relations Julia Boguslawski said, "This award is an incredible honor for both David and AGS, especially among such an impressive group of contenders representing many large and well-established companies. We are thrilled to see David be recognized for his contributions to the global gaming industry and his leadership at AGS, where he has guided us to meaningful growth, taken the Company public, and cultivated the best employee culture in the gaming supplier space."
Lopez joined AGS as President and Chief Executive Officer in early 2014. Under his leadership, AGS grew the company organically and through numerous strategic acquisitions to become a full-service supplier of slots, table products, and interactive solutions. Lopez has led AGS to double-digit growth in revenue and AEBITDA for the last four fiscal years, beginning in 2015. In 2018, under Lopez's leadership, AGS successfully completed an initial public offering and secondary offering of the Company's stock, and AGS is now traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol AGS.
Prior to AGS, Lopez served two years as Chief Executive Officer, President, and board member of Global Cash Access (now Everi). Before that, he was Chief Operating Officer and a board member for leading table products supplier Shuffle Master, Inc. (now a Scientific Games asset). During his nearly 15-year tenure at Shuffle Master, Lopez held various executive positions, including Interim CEO, Executive Vice President, President of the Americas, and Vice President of Product Management. He was instrumental in Shuffle Master's phenomenal growth from a $27 million company in 1998 to nearly $260 million in annual revenues when he left the company in 2012.
A charismatic and popular CEO, Lopez was recognized by Glassdoor.com as one of the top CEOs of 2019 in their Employees' Choice Awards. He earned a 98 percent approval rating by AGS employees based on anonymous, voluntary employee reviews. Lopez's passionate focus on driving a positive employee culture can be attributed to AGS' third consecutive year winning 'Atlanta's Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® (2019, 2018, 2017) and two consecutive years winning 'Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in the Nation® (2018 and 2017) based on confidential, independent employee surveys.
Now in its sixth year, the Global Gaming Awards Las Vegas recognizes and rewards operational excellence displayed across a 12-month period. The Global Gaming Awards Las Vegas are powered by Gambling Insider magazine in association with the Global Gaming Expo ("G2E"). The voting process is independently adjudicated by KPMG Isle of Man to ensure full transparency.

Additionally, Aristocrat’s Buffalo Diamond™ was named Slot of the Year. The Global Gaming Awards are produced by Gambling Insider magazine in association with G2E. The winners were selected by the event’s largest judging panel to date.
Prior to G2E, Aristocrat’s EDGE X™ cabinet and its Mobile nCompass™ system solution were winners in Casino Journal’s 2019 Most Innovative Gaming Technology Awards.
Players also love Aristocrat games, and in the 2019 Casino Player readers’ choice awards, Aristocrat’s Lightning Link™, Buffalo Grand™, and Dragon Link™ were all named to the Favorite Video Slot list, with Lightning Link taking top honors. Lightning Link was also named top Favorite Bonus Round, where Buffalo Grand was also honored. Additionally, Buffalo Grand was named as a Favorite Progressive game.

At G2E 2019, Everi’s Interactive product team will engage with current and potential customers as they demonstrate the advantages of integrating and deploying the Company’s RGS in their social and/or real-money interactive gaming operations. Everi will showcase its portfolio of online game content currently available including a key differentiating player feature on its RGS that offers both landscape and portrait functionality of games that are immediately available.
“Since launching our proprietary RGS a year ago at G2E and subsequently going live in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, we have had great initial success for our interactive platform and content, demonstrating the popularity of our games can transcend the land-based casino and extend to both online social and real-money environments,” said Michael Rumbolz, President and Chief Executive Officer, of Everi. “Today, we are working with partners and operators in additional states and believe that by the end of 2019, our RGS and gaming content will attract greater numbers of players wherever they may be. In addition, we have seen growing interest in our interactive solutions portfolio from operators outside the United States and plan to expand our real-money RGS footprint into Canada and Europe, two new geographies that would join Colombia, which is live today. All told, we now have agreements in place that will support the majority of existing real-money casino operators in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and we look forward to G2E 2019 where our team will focus on expanding our reach with additional operators and technology partners.”
David Lucchese, Executive Vice President and Interactive Business Leader of Everi, added, “Our early success in New Jersey and our to-date performance in the social space demonstrates that Everi is well-positioned with the right content and technology to serve our customers’ interactive gaming needs. We remain on pace to expand our RGS game library to more than 50 titles by year-end and are proud to note that all of our online titles were developed from our land-based content including our high-performing video games and best-in-class, award-winning mechanical games. All of Everi’s RGS content is delivered in a configurable form that allows us to tailor its performance for operators and with the flexibility to quickly add new online themes from our land-based content library. We are also well positioned to support our customers with omni-channel content launches across land-based, social, and real-money online. Put simply, we believe we have a compelling product offering and long-term content plan and look forward to showcasing what we can do today and what we plan to do in the future at G2E 2019.”
Everi’s RGS currently supports 30 titles with its library of content expected to exceed 50 titles by year-end. Everi designed its proprietary RGS using state-of-the-art system architecture enabling the Company to develop and distribute compelling player-preferred content directly to operators. This content includes award-winning three-reel mechanical games and attractive video slots all built around land-based slot math with the added player feature to play the game in landscape or portrait mode.
